John J. Carlin, Jr. Mr. Carlin's area of practice is civil litigation and commercial transactions. He served as assistant prosecutor in Hudson County from 1964-1966, and was first assistant prosecutor from 1966-1970. Mr. Carlin also served as municipal court judge for Denville Township from 1972-1973. From 1986-2001, Mr. Carlin was a member Carlin, Maddock, Fay & Cerbone, P.C., a firm that specialized in general litigation including Environmental Law, Labor and Employment Law, Occupational Safety and Health Law, Negligence, Products Liability, Corporate and Commercial Law, and Appeals. Mr. Carlin received his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1957, and Bachelor of Law degree in 1961 from Harvard University. He is currently a member of the Hudson County Bar Association, the Morris County Bar Association, and the New Jersey Bar Associations. He is a certified civil trial attorney, Supreme Court of New Jersey, Board on Trial Attorney certification. Mr. Carlin established Carlin & Ward, P.C. with William J. Ward in March 2002. Mr. Carlin has handled litigation and commercial matters involving contract specifications for Conoco Phillips, Tosco Corporation, Exxon/Mobil Corporation, Exxon Research & Engineering Company, Sika Corporation, Yale Associates, and Millennium Corporation. He has handled extensive insurance litigation for Exxon Research & Engineering Company.
